This was the first NABC title for the winners. They were in first place after the afternoon qualifying session, and ninth going into Monday’s final. A 60% game in the first final set brought them up to third place, and a 63% game in the second final sealed the victory.
Heymann and Chan are a first-time partnership. When Heymann’s regular partner was unable to play in Philadelphia, he arranged a date with Chan for Heymann.
The winners had a four-session total of 2638.75. In second with 2562.97 were Jeff Hand and Gail Greenberg of New York City. Top on a board was 77.
